Hello. I'm looking for some advice on buying an espresso machine and grinder. I'm looking to spend around $1k. I can go a little higher if need be, but I'd like to keep it in or around that range for both a grinder and a machine.
My use for the machine is primarily in drinking straight espresso, though I will make the occasional milk drink for myself, wife, and some company.
I've really been considering the CC1/Vario combo from SCG, but some of the posts regarding the reliability of the machine have me a little concerned. It seems like a large majority of people that own the machine have had issues of some sort or another with it.
I've also been considering the Rancillio Silvia w/ PID Vario combo from SCG as well. However, I am a little put off that the PID is an aftermarket addition to the machine and not standard equipment.
These two machines seem to be the biggest players in my price range, but I'm very open to other suggestions in and around this price range for both a grinder and machine. As I stated, I'm open to spending a little more if I can get a quality machine and grinder that will last me for many years.
Thank you all in advance for your advice. I greatly appreciate it.
