What is the best bad brand of coffee?

As silly of a question as it might be, what do you think?

Assuming you are an average joe and want to buy pre-ground coffee beans, use a typical paper filter coffee maker, and perhaps fancy just enough to use filtered water, what brand of coffee would you say has the best quality for price?

I know, obviously, coffee is subjective in the fact that there are many different flavors elicited from different bean origins/preparation methods/roasting levels/etc and a great deal of it is personal preference. However, if you can try and remove those factors the best you can (Such as looking at Maxwell House as a brand since they have light, medium, and dark roast options), what would give the best cup?

I am thinking the cheaper brands such as Maxwell House, Folgers, Chock Full of Nuts, generic store brands, etc.
