I have a nice little setup at home. I get freshly roasted local beans. Grind them immediately before brewing with my Encore Baratza grinder. And then use either an Aeropress, French Press, or Bonavita 1900. And I'm very please with the coffee it produces.
I also have a Zojirushi thermos for days I want to take it to work. But after even just 20 minutes in the thermos (which keeps it piping hot), the flavor seems to be ruined. I know that drinking it directly out the thermos blocks a lot of the aroma (and smell is a big part of taste). But even if I pour it into another mug, the coffee tastes flat and almost stale.
Is there any way to avoid this?
