Late last night I was in the comments of an irrelevant post and somehow /r/coffee came up so I decided to see what goes on here. I am glad I did! After checking out the info in the sidebar and watching some YouTube vids on different types of methods to brewing, I decided to pick up a French Press at walmart. Nothing fancy, just a cheap Mr. Coffee one which was all they had, oh well.
So as soon as I got back, this is like an hour ago, I brew up some coffee. I don't have a scale or a grinder or any of that fancy stuff yet and for coffee all I had was Folgers ( we all start somewhere right? :D) it didn't really matter though, as after having just one cup of this new brew I don't think I'm going to use my drip coffee maker ever again haha!
I know I wasn't very exact on the water to coffee ratio and the fact that I used Folgers, I expected some bitterness no matter what but it was still an improvement. I used a slight amount of sugar to balance the bitter and less than half the creamer I ever expected I'd need in a cup of coffee. It was/is so delightful.
Now where do I go from here? Fresh coffee and a burr grinder is my guess. Any recommendations on a grinder that won't break the bank in maybe the 30-50 dollar range? Anyways, thanks for all the info everyone and I'm looking forward to being on /r/coffee a lot more :)
