Hi guys,
I'm a newb when it comes to espresso, and I was wondering if one of you guys could help. My espresso shots pull in 10-15 secs tops, and I've done some troubleshooting of my own and am open to additional ideas.
I have an entry level setup; I am using a Baratza Preciso (recalibrated to the R-most window for fine grinding, set to 1A the maximum fine setting) with an older model Gaggia Classic (aluminum boiler, regularly backflushed/descaled, just changed the gasket). I did a modified blind OPV adjust to get 130mL in 30secs out of the OPV return line. And the beans I used are <7 days out from roast date from Verve.
I use 22g ground measured via scale to 0.1g, and am pretty good on my tamping for a newb (I think). I let the machine heat up for 20-30min on average, and it doesn't matter whether I froth the milk before or after.
The weird thing is, I was getting ~25secs on shots last week, but then I cleaned the grinder and now I can't reproduce it.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated, thanks!
