Is aeropress more forgiving of grind size than other methods?

TL:DR I've found burr and blade grinders to make identical cups of joe when using an Aeropress.

I switched from a blade (Mr. Coffee IDS 77) to burr grinder (Hario Slim) about 4 years ago. At that time, I was mostly using a mocha pot and french press. The burr grinder made a huge improvement, so it stayed.

For the past two years or so, I have been using an Aeropress daily along with the burr grinder and have been very happy with the results.

That being said, last week I pulled out the blade grinder to chop up some coffee + cardomom for several batches of Turkish coffee all of which came out perfectly.

It came out so well in fact that I decided to revisit the burr / blade question with my aeropress and two identical cups on two separate mornings. Coffee was a freshly roasted sumatra from a local shop. To be honest, my wife and I couldn't taste a difference. Mugs were identical but labelled on the underside. The only difference is that visually the grinds from the Burr grinder appeared much more uniform.

Only explanation I could think of is that the Aeropress is more forgiving. Thoughts?

Edit: My brew in the Aeropress is 14g @ fine grind, ~175mL (2.5 on the markings) @ 195F, 65 seconds.
