I'm looking for a new brew grinder. Right now I'm using the Hario Skerton (modded), but I'm looking to drop some money and up my game. I want to grind by mass. I've done a lot of research on these two grinders and watched a lot of reviews and youtube videos.
The thing about the Breville is that it has great features that I love like its shut-off hopper with rubber gasket lid and its adjustable upper-burr. But I really want to grind by mass, because grinding by time doesn't do me a bit of good when I switch from v60 to FP to siphon. If I understand everything I've read about watched, the preset will adjust the grind time for the number of cups but not the size of the grind. So it really doesn't do me any good unless I just want to have by everyday v60 preset and than I have to do some guess work for the others.
With the Virtuoso + Esatto, I spend another $70 but I get grinding by mass and 3 mass presets. I can use these for chemex/FP, v60 & siphon. But the Virtuoso is plastic, doesn't have a shut-off hopper, doesn't have the adjustability, and I'm not sure how its consistency at FP is.
if you were me, and your budget was $200-300, which would you buy and why?
