Using a short brew time in a french press

Just wondering if anyone else does this--someone gave me some pre-ground beans, so they're really too fine for a french press. I've been using them anyway, and it's actually not bad. I have a tiny one cup french press, and I've been using a super short extraction time, like a few seconds, similar to an aeropress.

Anyone else ever do this, or is that just totally a shonda?
