Difference between high-end and worth the price vs overpriced and well -marketed?

Hello, I'm new to the coffee brewing scene. I'm generally a big fan of lattes and cappuccinos over straight up coffee.

I've seen Del, Izzo and some other brands mentioned here by others when talking about their rigs but I rarely see Jura mentioned.

Now, I've gone to a few places and tried samples. Every retail store, WS or Sur, I've been to pushes Del or Jura with Jura being the more heavily pushed.

Yet, I've rarely seen anyone really mentioned them here. I was looking into buying an espresso machine so I can wake up to a good cup but have found myself still researching for the last 6 months or so.

I'm not here so much for purchase suggestions (I'm assuming the sticky covers this subs preferred quite well ) but more to see what high end brands aren't worth the money.
